Senior Consultant - Solutions Architect

Responsibilities The role is to provide expert architectural consultancy and leadership at a senior level.
· Lead analysis, architecture, design and development.
· Provide enterprise level consulting on solution integration with existing customer systems.
· Liaise with clients, team members, project managers and stakeholders within the client and COMPANY Group to deliver successful projects.
· Be able to work independently or as part of a team.
· Assist in pre-sales activities, working with the business development team.
· Assist in the estimating and planning of projects.
Required Experience & Skills The desired candidate is expected to have at least 5 years commercial experience architecting enterprise level solutions based primarily on Microsoft technologies and preferably will have come from a consulting background.
· Have a strong technical background with Microsoft technologies
· .NET 1.1/2.0
· Newer aspects of .NET 3.0, including WCF and WF, and later .NET versions
· SQL Server 2000 and 2005
· Distributed mechanisms such COM, Web Services, MSMQ
· Knowledge or experience of BizTalk
· Strong understanding of web based technologies and protocols
· HTML/XHTML/DHTML
· XML/XSL/XSLT
· JavaScript
· TCP/IP, HTTP, SHTTP, FTP, SOAP
· Have the ability to effectively analyse requirements, from both technical and business perspectives. Understand functional and non-functional requirements and provide requirement modelling where necessary
· Have a strong background in OO and SOA principles, strong UML abilities, with experience using different models and an understanding of ROI
· Experience of full lifecycle for medium to large scale complex development projects (i.e. budget size £100K+ 3+ months duration)
· Knowledge of processes and methodologies such as SCRUM, Agile, RUP
Desired Experience/Awareness
· Knowledge of frameworks such as TOGAF and Zachman
· Knowledge of hardware and infrastructure topologies

Technical Consultant- Senior Technical Consultant

Role Summary We are currently looking to recruit a Senior Technical Consultant to provide technical management and leadership, technical consultancy, and solution design and delivery resource on projects delivering for retail Product Information Management, and Price and Promotions Management solutions for COMPANY Group customers using our Sonetto™ software.
Responsibilities
· Leading Technical Teams – Work with project manager to define and estimate required tasks. Co-ordinate all architecture, design development and test activity. Ensure team follows best practice in process and deliverables. Ensure team deliverables satisfy requirements, and team meets deadlines within resource constraints.
· Architecting Solutions – Understand overall business and technical requirements of a solution. Define appropriate software architecture and work with other staff to define the hardware platform and infrastructure requirements. Document and communicate the proposed architecture to all team members and to appropriate customer staff. Gain approval for the architecture. Manage conformance to the architecture and change to the architecture during the project.
· Developing Solution and Components – Design, develop and unit test parts of the solution not implemented in the Sonetto™ platform or standard solutions. Follow best practice in development process and deliverables. Produce components that satisfy requirements within deadlines and resource constraints.
· Deploying Solutions – Ensure that solutions can be easily deployed to demonstration, test and production servers. Manage solution build cycle to create regular documented installation packages. Create clear and accurate installation and operations guides. Work with other project members to deploy and upgrade live solutions.
Other duties will be:
· Resolving Solution Issues – Investigating reported problems, correcting, testing and redeploying solution software, participating in code walkthroughs, and updating or creating technical support documents, as required.
· Pre-sales Consulting – Provide technical input during the sales cycle. Attend sales meetings with prospects and customers to give technical presentations and to answer questions on technical issues.
· Personal Education – Use self-paced tutorial materials and attend external events to learn new techniques and new technologies as required. Study and take exams required for Microsoft developer certification.
· General Activities – Participate in general company and group activities, including product and solution reviews, process improvement meetings, and other regular meetings.
Required Experience & Skills The successful candidate will have a solid technical background with:
· Experience of architecting and developing secure, high performance web-based applications on .NET platform hosted on Windows Server, Internet Information Services, SQL Server etc.
· Advanced skills in Microsoft development technologies for web applications – Visual Studio, .NET Framework, ASP.NET, Transact SQL, C#, etc.
· Skills and experience in delivering enterprise integration solutions using Microsoft or other technologies for interconnected applications – Web Service Enhancements, SOAP, XML, XSLT, MSMQ, ETL technologies
· Familiarity with Web Page technologies – XHTML, CSS, Javascript, Ajax etc.
Desired Experience/Awareness: Knowledge and experience of delivering customer solution to retail sector and/or retail ERP, e-commerce or similar applications is essential. Skills and experience in technical training, bid preparation, pre-sales support and customer service would be an added advantage. Personal attributes should include:
· Able to provide strong technical and personal leadership to development teams.
· Solid understanding of best practice in software development process – Agile, SCRUM, test driven programming. Desire to continually improve processes and practices.
· Very strong consultancy skills – excellent communication, team working, customer focus, quality, ownership, adaptability, influencing and decision making skills. Focussed on completing tasks and delivering effective results. A strong 'finisher'.
· Able to work well with business and technical staff from customer and partner organisations.
· Able to create clear and accurate technical documents and presentation materials for a variety of audiences.
· Able to clearly communicate technical issues and solutions in informal meetings and in formal presentations.
