Job overview
The Data Center Specialist must have a thorough knowledge of data center power or cooling systems. Knowledge of IT systems is a plus.
The individual(s) hired into this position will be expected to accomplish the following three core objectives:
· EDUCATE internal and external customers regarding the analysis that underpins DCSC collateral. Act as the subject matter expert on the analysis behind the TradeOff Tools, analysis within white papers, and other DCSC analysis, in order to bolster credibility.
· RESEARCH data center requirements. Gather customer feedback regarding data center physical infrastructure requirements in China. The customer feedback will help identify the need for additional sales tools development.
· PROMOTE Company as a thought leader in the data center industry. Present at key industry events, webinars, and webcasts. Write articles for key industry publications within the region.
Job responsibilities
Primary responsibilities:
· Educate customers, partners, and internal colleagues regarding the analysis behind Data Center Science Center (DCSC) tools
· Identify regional differences that may impact content in existing white papers and work with the global team to localize
· Ensure that Data Center Science Center messaging is clear and consistent and supports marcom and sales messaging across China
· Work with local PR team to write and publish articles in key IT and Facilities trade publications
· Participate in monthly meetings with global Data Center Science Center (DCSC) members including the Senior Vice-President of Innovation
· Share knowledge with other teams to promote innovation and mutual learning within the company
· Ensure that vision, philosophies, and technical content are communicated effectively through various forms of translated content (localization)
· Present at key industry events, including conferences, trade shows, and webinars
Secondary responsibilities
· Edit and proof read white papers, articles, and other written materials translated into Chinese
· Provide feedback as to which materials are high priorities for translation.
· Develop logic-based sales tools in Excel (i.e., TCO calculator, efficiency calculator, availability calculator)
· Maintain up-to-date industry knowledge and trends across all physical infrastructure elements and IT technologies
· Identify tools created by other groups within Company (for example: spreadsheets by System’s Engineers to support their customers) to determine whether content can be converted to Data Center Science Center (DCSC) tools
Technical skills
· Ability to interpret electrical one-line drawings and floor layouts
· Technical knowledge of physical infrastructure subsystems including power, cooling, and management software
· Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Personal skills
· Resourcefulness, proactive, self-organizing, and have a thirst for knowledge
· Ability to clearly communicate (verbal and written) high level and technical concepts in both Chinese and English languages
· Ability to interact with a wide range of groups at varying levels including corporate executives

· Ability to research technical subject matter
Qualifications
· Technical background, Bachelor of science in engineering preferred
· Bilingual in English & Mandarin Chinese (speaking & writing)
· At least 10 years experience in the data center physical infrastructure or IT industry
· Strong presentation skills (Mandarin Chinese)
· English writing samples required
· Consulting and professional writing experience encouraged |
