CFD Engineer

SUMMARY OF JOB:

Responsible for design, specification, qualification and documentation of Computational Fluid Dynamics Analysis for the Critical Power and Cooling Systems Group.

 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Perform Analysis for customers, product management, systems engineers, New Product Development and application engineering.  Analysis will involve detail level from component level design to large data center layout.

 

Prepare basic CFD models in template formats for COMPANY cooling products. Models will need to be used in standalone and in conjunction with others at various conditions and parameters and various configurations.

 

Documentation of inputs and outputs from various analysis and archival of said documentation for future reference.

 

Work with Project Engineers and Testing Engineers in devising laboratory tests for validating the standard models.

 

Work with ISX Designer engineering team in using knowledge gained from previous analysis activities and aid them in designing automated CFD solutions that are embedded within the ISX Designer engine.

EDUCATION—MINIMUM REQUIRED LEVEL:

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Refrigeration Engineering or equivalent, advanced degree preferred.

 

EXPERIENCE—MINIMUM REQUIRED:

5 years experience working in Computational Fluid Dynamics.

 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS 1—REQUIRED:

Practical, related cooling experience on electronics thermal, HVAC, etc.

Demonstrated knowledge of Flotherm/Flovent (Flomerics), CFdesign (Blue Ridge Numerics) or comparable commercially available design package.

Ability to work as part of a cross functional team.

Ability to work with minimal supervision.

Good communication and technical writing ability in English.

Ability to communicate with a variety of personnel and  groups.

Working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Products.

Good English listening, speaking, reading and writing.

 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS 2—DESIRED BUT NOT ESSENTIAL:

Knowledge of Solidworks CAE system software

Knowledge of HVAC technology, suppliers and manufacturers

Knowledge of Data Center Cooling/Layout

 

TRAVEL:

Domestic and international travel as needed

 

OTHER KEY CONSIDERATIONS:

 

Due to geographical and time differences require the need for weekly evening or early morning conference calls.
