First line Manager

 

A self motivated Software/System backgrond research lead/manager will be primarily leading and working on proof-of-concept and prototyping projects in new and disruptive technology areas related to mobile communications, multimedia and SNS. The outcomes of these projects would potentially be the future features for SOMC products.

 

The successful candidate for this role should have solid system level knowledge on various SW platforms and operation systems and rapid prototyping capability with ability to quickly build working demo from a concept description.

 

The selected candidate will be required to work with various communications protocols (at least WWAN and WLAN) and multimedia stds.and social network applications. Lead a small team to develop innovative apps and China specific new apps,  better understand the trend and develop the corresponding strategies for SOMC. The candidate is expected to lead the propotyping team generate ideas, funnel external innovative ideas and develop solutions to prove the concept in a timely manner with very minimum help from others.

 

• Bachelor’s or Master's of Science in Electrical or Computer Engineering with a minimum of 10 years experience in embedded software development.

• Hands-on experience in working with IP driven applications, eithernet,  WLAN etc.

• Experience in low level C/C++ programming with strong skills in multithreaded applications, state machines and Object-oriented design for mobile embedded systems would be a plus.

• Solid knowledge in various realtime or Open OS, socket programming and network based application development. Experience in programming applications on Android would be a plus.

• Expereience and track record of being technical lead to lead a team on prototyping and implementing new technologies or innovation apps.

• Broad experience in multiple function areas for mobile device, including multimedia, networking protocols, such as TCP/IP, UDP, RTP, and the SIP with its extensions for IMS.

• In-depth knowledge in various mobile communication protocols, including GSM,GPRS, EDGE, UMTS, HSPA, LTE, WLAN, Bluetooth, DLNA etc. Knowledge in Chinese stds. TD-SCDMA, CMMB, WAPI, IGRS and hands-on experience in HW of new technology project would be a plus.

• A good team leader and player with innovative thinking to make differences. A result oriented leader taking the ownership to drive the project to the end.

• Proficiency in both written and spoken English

As a member of the Technology China team, the candidate will be measured based on Technology China’s KPI combined with individual target set by his/her manager.
