Background Highlights & Position Summary
Companyowns the industry¡¯s strongest IPR portfolio of patents essential to 2G, 3G and 4G wireless standards, and the core of our licensing programs are based on FRAND (Fair Reasonable and Non-Discriminatory) licensing.
There is currently much public debate on FRAND and what the FRAND commitment means when offering a license to patents essential to a standard. This issue is in the highlight of policy makers and regulators and the importance for Companyto clarify our position and the needs of the telecommunication industry is ever increasing.
Therefore we are willing to reinforce the organization with an IPR Policy Director who will be part of the Policy & Communications team of IPR and Licensing. Engaging in this ongoing FRAND debate is an important part of our patent strategy.
With Company¡¯s focus on IPR licensing we are continuing to build an organization for future growth. In the Networked Society we will see built-in wireless access beyond traditional devices like phones, laptops and tablets. This provides an interesting business opportunity for IPR and Licensing as any company or manufacturer that wants to be part of this market will need a license from Company.
IPR and Licensing, a global organization with major offices in Sweden, USA and Germany and additional offices in other locations worldwide, is responsible for Company's global Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) program and works closely with Company's research and standardization organizations to secure continued technology and intellectual property leadership for Company.
Policy & Communication¡¯s main responsibilities are to define and drive Company¡¯s position in the FRAND debate and other IPR Policy issues. The focus of the current position is to engage in Beijing and in the global debate on FRAND and other IPR topics together with a team of experts. Other areas of responsibility are driving Company¡¯s IPR strategies and policies in Standards Development Organisations (SDO¡¯s) and reviewing IPR policies of SDO¡¯s where Companyis considering joining.
The position will be based in Beijing.

l Experience from communicating with Policy and Regulatory bodies
l Highly developed understanding of IPR policies, regulations and legislation, and associated processes, actors and relationships from a national, regional as well as a global perspective
l Experience from IPR practice and/or IPR enforcement
l Experience from standardization and related IPR policies
l Good understanding of industry dynamics and structure of eco-system in Telecom
l Strategic utilization of influencing and lobbying skills based on effective communication, active engagement and networking
l Broad technical understanding of Telecom
Preferred Qualification
l Law degree (ideally IPR Law oriented) and/or a Master of Science in Engineering
l Fluent in written and spoken English.
